Unless you have been living under a rock the last couple of weeks, you will be aware that Adobe have announced an incremental upgrade to CS5 – CS5.5. As a result, I thought I would post some details on what is exactly new in Flash CS5.5 – and is it worth upgrading or waiting for CS6.
I will take a particular feature and blog about it and give you an example of its use, so you can make up your own mind as to whether it is worthwhile. So here goes – New features in Flash CS5.5 no:1 – Enhanced layer control.
Unlike every other Adobe package, Flash has never had a copy layers command or duplicate layer command – a glaring oversight considering how many people have lots of layers and often have a complicated job on hand. Previously, the only way of getting this functionality is to buy and install a thrid-party extension. Finally, in Flash CS5.5, you now have…
Cut Layers
Copy Layers
Paste Layers
Duplicate Layers
Just for these commands I would consider Flash CS5.5 a must have upgrade. Admittedly this is just a small change, but a very useful one (if you are dealing with layers a lot).
it would have been even nicer to have the ability to select several layers and then make them into a separate symbol – maybe in CS6?
